President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is slated to attend the 82nd Anniversary of Araw ng Kagitingan on Tuesday, April 9, at the Mount Samat National Shrine in Pilar, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II, particularly the Fall of Bataan.
The event, themed “Honoring Veterans’ Valor Foundation for a United Filipino People,” will kick off at 8:00 A.M. with the President’s arrival and the commencement of the program. Distinguished guests expected to join President Marcos Jr. include Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr., National Historical Commission Chairperson Lisa Guerrero Nakpil, and US Ambassador to the Philippines Marykay L. Carlson.
Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III of the Provincial Government of Bataan, along with provincial and local government officials, will also be in attendance, alongside other government dignitaries.
Following the Mount Samat event, President Marcos Jr. is scheduled to lead the turnover rites of the NHA Balanga City Low Rise Housing Project in Brgy. Tenejero, Balanga City, showcasing the government’s commitment to addressing housing needs in the region.
The Araw ng Kagitingan holds significant historical and cultural importance, serving as a solemn reminder of past sacrifices to secure the freedom enjoyed by Filipinos today.
